At Heymondo, we're not just redefining travel insurance, we're reinventing the way people experience the world. As a fast-growing insurtech based in Barcelona with a global outreach, we thrive on innovation, collaboration and a relentless passion for adventure. Every team member is a key player in crafting cutting-edge solutions that empower travellers and transform challenges into opportunities, all while supporting our mission: making travel easier for everyone, everywhere.

We're looking for a detail-oriented, solution-driven, and proactive Legal & Compliance Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, you will help strengthen and scale the Legal & Compliance function as Heymondo enters its next phase of international growth.

This is a high-impact opportunity to work at the heart of a fast-paced, tech-driven business, collaborating across teams with a primary focus on compliance implementation and monitoring, insurance regulation, commercial contracting, data protection, and cross-functional legal support.

Mission: Support the Legal & Compliance area in managing day-to-day legal and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance, mitigating legal risks, and offering agile, practical guidance to various business units.

Main responsibilities:

  • Draft and review contracts with suppliers, insurers, aggregators/comparison websites, partners, and other third parties.

  • Provide support on data protection and privacy matters, including queries, risk assessments, security incidents, and potential data breaches.

  • Monitor regulatory developments and assist in their practical implementation across different entities and business units within the group.

  • Support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the compliance programme, including policies, procedures, the risk map, controls, internal communications and training, evidence, and internal documentation.

  • Review advertising campaigns, marketing actions, influencer and other third-party collaborations, and commercial communications from a legal and compliance perspective.

  • Assist in managing complex customer complaints, proceedings before supervisory authorities, and matters related to the Customer Service Department.

  • Provide legal and regulatory support on insurance distribution, distance contracting, consumer rights, e-commerce, and customer service across the group’s various distribution models, including insurance brokerage, insurance agency, and underwriting agency (MGA).

  • Assist with basic corporate governance and corporate documentation tasks, such as powers of attorney, certificates, resolutions, and public deeds.

  • Collaborate on matters related to technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, DORA, and ISO 27001, coordinating with technical teams and external advisors.

  • Coordinate and monitor legal and regulatory matters assigned to external law firms.

  • Contribute to organising, documenting, and making the Legal & Compliance area's processes more efficient and scalable.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or equivalent Spanish law degree (Grado/Licenciatura en Derecho). A double degree in Law and Business Administration (ADE) will be highly valued.

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in legal or compliance departments or law firms, preferably within the insurance sector.

  • Knowledge of insurance distribution regulation, including the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) and its implementation in Spain.

  • Practical experience in commercial contracting and compliance matters and knowledge of data protection, consumer law, distance contracting, and marketing/advertising regulations.

  • Ability to analyse complex legal issues and translate them into clear, practical, and solution-oriented guidance for the business.

  • High level of proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

  • A proactive, organised, rigorous profile with the capacity to handle multiple matters simultaneously.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally across different teams and progressively assume higher levels of autonomy.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in insurtech or, ideally, in travel insurance.

  • Understanding of the respective roles and operating models of insurers, insurance brokers, insurance agents, underwriting agencies (MGAs), and TPAs.

  • Experience in customer complaints, relations with supervisory bodies, or insurance regulatory documentation.

  • Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession (Máster de Acceso a la Abogacía) or specialised postgraduate training in insurance, compliance, privacy, or digital law.

  • Experience in document management, corporate governance, or coordinating with external law firms.

  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, DORA, or ISO 27001.
